Cool New Award!

The InkMark. $1000 to a spec fic magazine that pays authors, charges no fees, bans AI, is free to read.

Check out this cool new award: The InkMark, for small and mid-sized speculative magazines. Help us spread the word!

From the sponsors:

There’re a lot of spec magazines and journals out there publishing very cool stuff that gets overlooked by the major awards, and we’d like to fix that.

This is a goal I’m happy to support, so I’m thrilled to be part of the jury panel. Here’s some more info:

There’s no fee to enter, and on top of the $1000 grand prize, the winning publication will receive a sick trophy and $500 worth of promotional art. We’re not leaving out the authors, either. The authors of the winning publication’s five submitted stories will each receive $100, and the top three stories across the entire submissions pool will also receive $100.

Submissions run from June 15th to July 15th or whenever we hit 80 magazine submissions.

  • Must publish firmly speculative stories– the Wikipedia definition of speculative fiction is just above the submission form
  • Must publish in English
  • Must have been publishing stories for at least 3 years. (At least two of the five representing stories must have been published between June 15th, 2025 and June 15th, 2026)
  • Must pay authors (Even token payment counts!)
  • Must charge no fee for submission
  • Does not allow AI
  • All stories are free-to-read online
  • One entry per publication, and only a publisher may enter; authors may encourage their publishers to enter, but may not enter works on a publisher’s behalf

And speculative poetry is also encouraged!

All the info is available on the InkMark website!
