I usually don’t enter multiple stories in the same contest, but I’m enjoying the stories at Quantum Shorts too much to resist another. If you have an extra minute or two, check out my quantum detective story “Point of View” at the Quantum Shorts contest page.
This story began as a YeahWrite Super Challenge entry. The prompt was to combine the scifi and detective genres into a story of 1,000 words or less. My detective won that competition (Yay!), and later made it to round two of consideration at Daily Science Fiction. DSF ultimately declined the story, and it’s been sitting in a drawer since then. The Quantum Shorts contest gave me the motivation to revise & submit.
While you’re there, check out my other entry: Jesus Machine
The contest is organized by the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) at the National University of Singapore, and is sponsored by Scientific American and Nature, as well as a slew of international universities and quantum research companies. The shortlist will be announced in April.
I wish all the contestants good luck!
I love this–it’s chilling! I think it belongs on a big screen!
